Reflection
Cover letters are as important as resumes when it comes to applying for jobs. This is something that I understood when researching ways to write a cover letter effectively. Oftentimes, candidates prepare good resumes and neglect cover letters, causing the employer to lose interest in the candidate. A professional cover letter that is written eloquently with the correct format that is required by the hiring department in a company or an institution can help a candidate stand out.
This is due to the fact that a well-written letter proves that the candidate has excellent knowledge in business writing and can quickly adapt to the working conditions to some extent as compared to other students. It took a bit of research to understand how to effectively put forward my pitch as a potential candidate for the job that they advertised, on a single page.
Not repeating details is one of the important details that I needed to keep in mind, as it would cause me to lose valuable space on my letter where I could include other valid and important details. Having the right format was also a factor that considers important, as the lack of it would make it seem like the candidate is unfamiliar with organizational writing and therefore, would be a bad impression on the recruiters. The fact that I was able to communicate my ideas effectively was a satisfactory feeling.
